Bouncer admits head-butting customer outside Carlisle bar

A bouncer has been warned he could face jail after pleading guilty to assaulting a city centre club-goer.

Oliver Hunter, 19, of Botchergate, Carlisle, entered his plea at the city’s magistrates’ court.

The court heard how, on August 25, Hunter had head-butted his victim outside Time Bar in the city centre.

In Hunter’s defence, Malcolm Dodds said that his client had no recollection of the incident as he himself had been the victim of an earlier assault.

Mr Dodds said that Hunter had complained of feeling unwell but had remained on the doors as it was a busy evening.

However, District Judge Gerald Chalk described the incident as a “breach of trust” and said: “You were working as a doorman and are trained to control your anger.

“You have broken that trust.”

Hunter was then warned by the judge: “I’m not saying that I will I send you to prison – but I don’t want to put you under any false illusion.

“That is an option.”

The case was adjourned until November 4 for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.
