A MAN is out of intensive care after suffering serious head injuries in a car crash outside Carlisle.
Cumbria Police confirmed yesterday that doctors said the 20-year-old – involved in a two-car collision on the Kingmoor to Rockcliffe road on Sunday – remained in a stable condition at a hospital in Newcastle.
His condition was initially said to be critical but stable.
Three other people were hurt in the accident, which happened close to an old railway bridge.
The badly injured man, who was transferred to the north east from the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle, was a passenger in a Vauxhall Astra, which was in collision with a Renault Clio.
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 0845 3300247.
