Store lambs had more bidders than ever and many more could have been sold. Some classes of lamb were dearer than ever than the previous Saturdays excellent trade.

A large attendance of both local and distant buyers were present for the carserigg dispersal levelling at a pleasing £47.03. Gimmers to £70. 1 crop to £51. 2 crop to £48. 3 crop to £41. 4 crop to £38.

TOTAL FORWARD 4,442 store lambs and 1,259 breeding sheep (comprising 840 ewes, 246 shearlings and 173 ewe lambs).
Store lambs were a similar show and trade was up £3 on the week. Top was £49 for Texels from The Croft, Shap, then £47 Church View. Hill Cheviots were a smaller show and very dear. Top was £41 East Murton.
Breeding Sheep: A large ring of buyers saw all classes sharper on previous sales. Ewes sold to £62 for 2 crop Texel ewes from Messrs Fleming, Hillhead, others to £60 (2 shear) Shawhill, £58 (3 shear) Kirkhouse; Greyface £59 (2 shear) Wanwood Hill, £54 (2 shear) Longriggthorn, £52 (2 shear) Brookfield; Cheviot Mules £52 (2 crop), £50 (2 crop) Shawhill, £49 (2 crop) Philiphaugh; Lleyn £40 (4 shear) The Green.
