Life (and laughter) after loss

My Brilliant Divorce – Carlisle Green Room THE audience loved it - especially the ladies.
This was a one-woman production. Jenny Pike, well known for her comedy performances, surpassed herself in the role as Angela, a middle-aged woman, married for years, and reasonably happy until she discovers her husband Max packing his bags and leaving her for a younger model.
Adding insult to injury, Angela’s only daughter, Veronica, ups sticks and moves in with her boyfriend. Mum is left with only the dog for company.
How does a woman feel when her husband walks out on her?
“Sheer Joy”, according to Angela – a ripple of laughter ran through the audience.
‘Roundhead’ (Angela’s nick name for her husband) was beginning to be a bit of a pain but nevertheless was better than nothing.
Using emotions mixed with comedy and some wonderful one-liners, Angela recalled her three-year journey back to happiness.
The bad times required visits to Dr Sedman, calls to help-lines, therapists, and of course support of friends.
The good times saw her becoming a landlady, finding out that life wasn’t too good in the Max household, and oh yes booking a holiday, where, believe it or not she found love again… with Dr Sedman!
Directing this adult comedy was Gisele Hammond, who has a long and successful history working with Jenny – a partnership that obviously works extremely well for them both.
The next production at the Green Room is The Play’s the Thing from Monday, October 13 to Saturday, October 18
